‘Very good’: Roberto De Zerbi explains what he likes about Wolves’ performance
Brighton may have beaten Wolves 4-1 at Molineux on Saturday, but boss Roberto De Zerbi was impressed with his opponents.
Despite what the scoreline may suggest, Wolves played some very good football which at times looked incredibly advanced.
This can be clearly seen, as they created four big chances in the game, compared with Brighton’s five.
An impressive creative display which also saw a whopping 30 shots attempted, however only one goal.
Therefore the only issue seems to be finishing, and clearly the defence as well now.
De Zerbi on Wolves
Following the game, Gary O’Neil‘s opponent Roberto De Zerbi was seemingly impressed with the Old Gold‘s display.
Reported in the Birmingham World, De Zerbi suggested the scoreline looked inflated and didnt represented an accurate gulf in quality.
“I like Wolves, I think Wolves are a very good team. They showed quality in their performance and we knew it could be a tough game,”
“In the first half, it was very tough. I think we deserved to score in the second half [but] in terms of the credit of the result, I think it [made us look] better,” De Zerbi admitted.
Good things are coming to Wolves
You just get the feeling that sooner or later, Wolves will start to figure out how to get the ball in the net.
When this happens, they should see a significant uptake in form, as they already have a good team which creates chances.
Not time to panic yet, as O’Neil clearly has his new players believing in his vision, which explains the already organised attack.
Defensively however I do worry for Wolves and would love to see a defender arrive to sure up what is a rather shaky defence.

Wolves relying on £19m star rarely seen at Molineux
Wolves have ‘pinned hopes’ on £15m star after Jimenez exit at Molineux
New boss Gary O’Neil will rely on £15m star to lead the line this season
Wolverhampton Wanderers may be forced to rely on Sasa Kalajdzic as their first-choice No.9 after Raul Jimenez’s exit while talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook tells GIVEMESPORT that the Premier League club could, once again, endure a ‘very difficult’ season.
The club have endured a tumultuous summer, which has been topped off by Julen Lopetegui’s unfortunate exit.
Wolverhampton Wanderers news – Sasa Kalajdzic
Wolves completed the £15m signing of Kalajdzic last summer, as reported by BBC Sport, as the Austrian centre-forward committed the next five years to the Midlands club.
The Vienna-born forward played just one game for Wolves last term due to a long-term crucial ligament rupture he picked up against Southampton just days after his arrival.
As a result, the 6-foot-7 man has not had the chance to prove his worth, though will be keen to become Gary O’Neil’s optimal choice through the middle.
Just the season before, however, he scored six goals and notched a further two assists in 15 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart as he established himself as the club’s primary centre-forward option.
And now that Jimenez has completed his Premier League switch to Fulham, reported to be worth £5.5m, Crook believes that new boss O’Neil will be utilising Kalajdzic as his starting striker for the foreseeable future.
However, the Mexico international’s 57 goals from 166 games, per Transfermarkt, will be difficult to emulate for sure, but the new coach may have little choice as club chairman Jeff Shi announced – in an open letter – that transfer business this summer has had to be restricted.
