Gabe Ervin Jr., a running back for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, has reportedly announced his retirement from football due to a catastrophic injury, leaving his teammates and coaches deeply surprised and saddened.
Ervin’s collegiate career at Nebraska was marred by injuries. In September 2023, he suffered a season-ending knee injury, sidelining him indefinitely. Later that season, he dislocated his shoulder in a game against Northern Illinois, resulting in another season-ending injury. In December 2024, Ervin entered the transfer portal after four seasons with the Cornhuskers.
Prior to transferring, Ervin accumulated 455 rushing yards and five touchdowns over his Nebraska career. His retirement due to injury marks a significant loss for the team, as Ervin was a dedicated and talented player whose contributions were greatly valued by his teammates and coaches.
