The tennis world was stunned when Elena Rybakina was forced to withdraw from the US Open due to an undisclosed injury. Weeks later, the shock has turned to concern as shocking updates about her health emerge. The world No. 1’s road to recovery appears to be a bumpy one, leaving fans and fellow players wondering when the reigning Wimbledon champion will return to the court.

According to a noteworthy update from the Italian publication Ubitennis, Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan has formally pulled out of the main draw. It appears like Rybakina has been dealing with ongoing injury problems during the second part of the tennis season in 2024. Furthermore, Zhang Shuai is now able to enter the main draw and compete in Rybakina’s spot as a result of her withdrawal.

Reflecting on the past, Elena Rybakina came into the US Open as one of the favorites. With her powerful game and recent success, she was expected to make a deep run once again. However, her campaign was derailed by an injury that forced her out mid-tournament, setting off a troubling pattern. Point to note is, Rybakina has never advanced into the third round at the hard court major.
