Florida State baseball offseason thread: Transfer portal additions and departures, MLB Draft and more

The Florida State Seminoles baseball team fell short of the ultimate turnaround story with a loss in the final four of the College World Series. And although their elimination stings, the season on the whole was a major win. The 26-game improvement from 2023, the ACC tournament runner-up, the CWS run— the Seminoles appear to have righted the ship under the leadership of Link Jarrett.

However, as the Noles enter the 2025 season, they’ll have major holes to fill in their attempt to repeat this season’s success. We’ll track all the comings and goings of the offseason as Florida State looks to reload.

7/15 update – Roster outlook post first two days of MLB Draft.

The first ten rounds of the MLB Draft saw a combination of ten current and future Seminoles selected. Florida State was tied for third in the nation for most college players drafted (six) and tied for first overall for number of commits selected (four). The first ten rounds of the draft have a heavier weight than the remaining rounds. The MLB slot system assigns an “amount” to each pick in the first ten rounds, if the pick fails to sign, the team loses the assigned amount. Each team has a total pool budget, but can exceed it by 5% before any major penalties are applied.

As a result, Florida State may see other Seminoles selected but their signing will be less guaranteed, but not out of the realm of possibility. As an example, Nelly Taylor was drafted in the 11th round last season and signed with Boston.
