Basketball star Larry Bird’s son ‘attacked his girlfriend after an argument and tried to run her over with his car’
The son of basketball star Larry Bird has been arrested after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend and hit her with his car.
Conner Bird, 21, was arrested on Sunday on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington and charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, battery resulting in bodily harm, criminal recklessness and possession of marijuana.
According to campus police, the alleged victim said Bird threw his cell phone at her during an argument and it struck her wrist.
He later tried to run her over with his car after the couple argued again and she got out of the vehicle.
She claims he then chased her through the parking lot.
Another person who saw the incident flagged down a police officer who then arrested Bird.
Bird’s attorney, John Tompkins told TMZ: ‘It is a private matter we are hoping to resolve as quickly as possible. We are happy no one was seriously hurt.’
Bird was arrested in 2011 for underage drinking and disorderly conduct.
Larry Bird is a former NBA basketball player, coach, and team president. He played for the Boston Celtics from 1978 for 13 seasons. He retired as a player in 1992 due to chronic back problems.
He served as head coach of the Indiana Pacers from 1997 to 2000. In 2003, he assumed the role of president of basketball operations for the Pacers, and he held that position until 2012.
