Could one Michigan football commitment help Wolverines land another?
Michigan football landed Jasper Parker over the weekend and the No. 440 overall prospect in the 2025 class, from the state of Louisiana, could help the Wolverines in another recruitment according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine.
It’s not easy to get players from Louisiana to Michigan. Assistant coach Ron Bellamy is from Louisiana so that has helped the Wolverines. It helped them land Amorion Walker and might have played a role in the commitment of Jasper Parker, at least if there were concerns about the distance.
Another target from Louisiana is on the radar for Michigan football
Phillip Wright of Destrehan, Louisiana, is one of the top targets on the board for Michigan football at wide receiver. He took an official visit this past weekend, along with Parker. Wright is ranked No. 402 overall according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
Georgia has been the main rival in this recruitment for the Wolverines. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound receiver has a 29-percent chance to end up with Georgia according to the On3 prediction machine. Michigan football is at 25 percent.
The official visit scheduled for next weekend will tell us a lot. If Wright doesn’t make the visit, that’s a good sign for Michigan football. Georgia might not view Wright as a clear take. The Bulldogs do have two wide receiver commitments already in 2025.
Holland posted on X that he’s “close” to putting in a prediction for Wright to commit to U-M. Having another player from Louisiana should help the cause for the Wolverines and could ease any distance concerns according to the Michigan football recruiting expert.
Wright ran a 10.62 in the 100-meter dash back in 2022 as a sophomore in high school. Wright is also a kick returner and that speed makes him an intriguing fit with big upside
