Sheffield Wednesday continue to be linked with names in the transfer market, with the summer window opening in less than a month.

The summer transfer window will officially open for business on June 14th, and Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping to have some deals in place for then.

With his Owls team in dire need of some additions, Danny Rohl is aware that he will have a busy summer in S6, especially after revealing their retained list earlier this month.

A number of first-team players, notably Juan Delgado and George Byers, are leaving Sheffield Wednesday, and names like Di’Shon Bernard are still up in the air.

Here is a summary of the most recent Sheffield Wednesday transfer news, although it appears that the Owls are keeping an eye on a few names.

Duncan McGuire to Sheffield Wednesday as soon as possible Blackburn Rovers and European teams are also interested in the January target Duncan McGuire from Orlando City.

Although McGuire has stated that it would “take a lot” to rethink a failed move to Lancashire this summer, Rovers are eager to rekindle discussions to sign him as his contract expires at the end of this year.

The most recent information about McGuire and Sheffield Wednesday comes from Alan Nixon, who has stated that although the Owls are interested in signing McGuire this summer, a permanent transfer rather than a loan agreement is required.

Posveda Ian to Sheffield Wednesday latest: After an outstanding stint on loan from Leeds United in the second half of the 2023–2024 season, Ian Poveda is eager to rejoin Sheffield Wednesday.

However, after the season ended, Poveda has had attention from the Owls and has been linked to Burnley, Luton Town, and Sunderland before the summer.

However, former Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer thinks that Poveda, 24, would be better served by returning to Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

Palmer recently remarked, “Obviously, Naturally, Sunderland, Burnley, and Luton will all be participating in the Championship next season.

“I believe Sheffield Wednesday is the best place for him to be.”

Ike Ugbo to Sheffield Wednesday latest

Sheffield Wednesday are also keen to re-sign Ike Ugbo this summer, and the Owls may well have received a timely boost in this particular pursuit.

The Canadian’s parent cub, Troyes, were relegated from the French Ligue 2 last week, and so the prolific Ugbo could be on the move this summer with the 25-year-old unlikely to be keen on playing French third tier football next season.

The Owls also want to bring Brighton goalkeeper James Beadle back on loan this summer, with Sheffield Wednesday News recently revealing that the Seagulls will definitely be loaning the 19-year-old out once again.

But Brighton recently announced the exit of manager Roberto De Zerbi. Although the club will loan Beadle out this summer, a change in manager may well delay proceedings and potentially allow other clubs to join the race for his signature.

Sheffield Wednesday January target released

Lastly, January target Scott Hogan has been released by Birmingham City, following Blues’ relegation to League One.

In four-and-a-half seasons with the club, Irishman Hogan scored 36 goals in 158 total appearances, also claiming eight assists.

There’s no indication whether or not Sheffield Wednesday remain interested in the 32-eyar-old, though.
