It seems like Sheffield Wednesday is getting ready for a hectic summer of player acquisitions.

After defeating Sunderland 2-0 on the last day of the season, Sheffield Wednesday defeated the drop in the Championship and can now go forward with their summer preparations.

Additionally, it appears that owner Dejphon Chansiri is making every effort to persuade Danny Rohl to remain at S6, as seen by upgrades to the training facility and discussions about a new deal for the German manager.

According to reports, Sheffield Wednesday has continued to follow McGuire, who is now the subject of proposals from Germany and Belgium.

On loan from Brighton, the Owls were able to recruit 19-year-old goalkeeper James Beadle in January.

It’s no secret that Sheffield Wednesday want to bring Ian Poveda back to Hillsborough on a permanent basis this summer.

He’s out of contract at Leeds United but the Owls are now facing fresh competition for his signature, with reports on Friday revealing that Burnley, Luton Town, and Sunderland are all keen on the 24-year-old.

His Leeds side remain in the Championship play-offs and so it’s likely that his future will become clearer once their season has finished.

Di’Shon Bernard wanted

Sheffield Wednesday also want to keep Di’Shon Bernard beyond this summer, but he too is of interest to other clubs.

The 23-year-old centre-back sees his contract expire next month and emerging reports say that Bernard has interest from the Championship and from elsewhere in Europe.

There’s no indication of whether or not he’ll stay in S6, though Sheffield Wednesday are desperate to keep hold of him.

Sheffield Wednesday fancy Ike Ugbo reunion

Ike Ugbo was the first of three players to sign on loan in January.

He was followed by Beadle and Poveda through the doors and Sheffield Wednesday are also keen on re-signing him this summer, with his parent club Troyes facing relegation to the French third tier.

It’s said that the Owls are looking into a permanent deal, though whether or not they’ll have the resources to make it happen remains to be seen.

George Byers attracting widespread interest

One player whose summer exit has now been confirmed by reports is George Byers.

The midfielder will leave Sheffield Wednesday after three seasons having spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Blackpool.

He’s set to become a free agent but already has interest from a number of League One clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday’s South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley and Rotherham United.
