A “wish is coming true” for Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Devontez Walker, who told reporters that he’s been a long-time admirer of quarterback Lamar Jackson and wanted to play on the same team as him.

“I’ve been watching Lamar since he came out of high school,” Walker said, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “He’s somebody that I wished I was on his team, and now that wish is coming true.”

Walker, a fourth-round pick out of UNC, caught 41 passes for 699 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games last season.

The NCAA initially sidelined him for the first portion of the season after the association ruled him a two-time transfer despite never playing a game at NC Central before leaving for Kent State. The NCAA eventually reversed its decision, allowing Walker to play the final couple months.

The B/R NFL Scouting Department thinks highly of him, comparing Walker to former Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins deep threat Mike Wallace.

“Walker also shows some real pop in space,” B/R NFL scout Derrik Klassen wrote.

“He’s not as smooth and coordinated of a mover as he looks, but he can make people miss when he plants his foot and explodes the other way. Walker’s blend of speed and burst make him a threat to house one every time he touches the ball.”

That could make him a huge addition to a Ravens team in need of wideout help after the free agent departure of Odell Beckham Jr. to the Dolphins.

So not only is Walker seeing a wish come true in playing on the same team as Jackson, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him catching long touchdowns from the two-time NFL MVP soon enough.
