Luton Town – Move For New Keeper Hits Major Snag
In the last forty-eight hours, the goalkeeping situation, at Kenilworth Road, has been the focus of two articles.
The first bemoaned the situation whereby I wasn’t convinced we had, among our contingent, someone good enough to face the rigours of the Premier League – unlikely-but-worth-a-punt – and cheekily suggested making a move for a keeper who had recently been in the news.
That cheeky suggestion was tongue in cheek, perhaps something some didn’t realise.
The second, covered the news that the Hatters had agreed to let Jack Walton go out on a season long loan deal, to Dundee United – and-now-there-are-just-two-left – pointing out the situation had suddenly gotten worse.
With Luton Town in need of a keeper, perhaps two, transfer speculation continues to link the Hatters with a keeper we’ve mentioned before, in our subject matter – Thomas Kaminski
While we sit and wait for the obligatory confirmation announcements relative to any deal, one news source, the Lancashire Telegraph is reporting that bids have been submitted for the 30-year-old keeper but none have come close to matching the valuation the Ewood Park club have placed on the player.
Indeed, our source suggests the bids tabled have not reached the seven-figure mark and that Blackburn Rovers are looking at between £3 million and £4 million for their asset.
Now whether Luton are prepared to pay that amount remains to be seen, but I get the feeling the longer we leave it, that price could suddenly start to climb!
Should the Hatters bite the bullet and snare their man or is it looking as if James Shea could well start the season as our main keeper?
