Cole Holcomb of the Steelers was released from the hospital and will miss the season due to a knee injury.

With a horrific knee injury that would keep him out of the game for the remainder of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game against the Tennessee Titans, linebacker Cole Holcomb had to be taken off the field on Thursday night at Acrisure Stadium.

Following a precautionary visit, Holcomb was discharged from the hospital on Friday, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The linebacker for the Steelers “needs surgery” and “is out for the season,” Pelissero continued. It is anticipated that he will fully recover.

Holcomb, 27, suffered the injury late in the first quarter while in pursuit of Titans’ wideout DeAndre Hopkins and appeared to collide with his teammate Keanu Neal around his left knee.

Amazon play-by-play man Al Michaels said on the broadcast said, “This is one of those injuries where we don’t need to show the replay.”

Holcomb immediately grabbed his knee in pain and as he was helped up onto the cart his teammates surrounded him to show their support.

Before he left the game, Holcomb had two tackles in the first quarter against Tennessee. He has 33 total tackles for the season to go along with two forced fumbles and has become a solid piece of an impressive Steelers’ defensive unit.

Holcomb played his first four seasons of professional ball with the Washington Commanders in Washington, D.C., before agreeing to a three-year, $18 million contract this past offseason.

Going ahead, the Steelers will have to rely more on seasoned inside linebackers Kwon Alexander and Elandon Roberts in Holcomb’s absence.
