Jayce was pronounced dead at the Carle Foundation Hospital on Saturday at 10:40 a.m., according to the Champaign County Coroner’s Office. The preliminary results of an autopsy performed on Monday revealed no evidence of trauma or foul play.
“At this time, the death of Jayce Griffin appears to be from natural causes, pending additional testing and final autopsy results,” said Champaign County coroner Duane Northrup in a statement obtained by The Associated Press.

Jayce’s mother, Jasmine Riggs, told WDJT that her son had a respiratory infection in the days preceding up to his death, but that he was “happy and healthy” when she took him to a doctor’s appointment.
Jayce was in the care of his father, Alan Griffin, at the time of his death, she informed the source.
