Key defenders have been cleared to return for the Broncos’ game against the Jets.
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO – Several important defenders have been cleared to play for the Broncos against the Jets.
On Friday, outside linebacker Frank Clark (hip) and safety Justin Simmons (hip) returned to practice, while inside linebacker Josey Jewell (hip) remained a full participant. All three players did not receive game statuses for Sunday, indicating that they will be available to play.
Clark, Jewell, and Simmons all missed Denver’s Week 4 victory, and Clark hasn’t played since Week 1. With his injury, Simmons missed two games.
Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (knee) also participated fully in practice but was not assigned a game status.
“Anytime you’re getting healthy in certain positions, it helps,” stated Head Coach Sean Payton on Friday. “… When there is only one player, you become a little stronger in that group. We’re excited to see those folks return.”
Center Lloyd Cushenberry III (quad), Javonte Williams (quad), and Mike Purcell (ribs) are all classified as questionable for Sunday’s game. Cushenberry and Purcell were restricted in all three of Denver’s sessions this week, while Williams progressed to a full participant on Friday after missing Wednesday’s practice and being limited the day before.
Baron Browning (knee), who is still on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform, was a limited participant but was declared out of the game.
Randy Gregory (outside linebacker, not injured – team decision) was also ruled out.
