Everton transfer news as information taken on 16-goal Boulaye Dia, £21m release clause ‘tempting’

Everton have approached Villarreal with an enquiry regarding their striker Boulaye Dia, according to La Citta di Salerno.

The newspaper noted that the Toffees, along with Premier League rivals West Ham, are tempted by his €25million (£21million) release clause.

La Citta di Salerno added that Salernitana want to keep the 26-year-old, who was only on loan at the Italian club last season from Villarreal.

Strong signals: The Campania club would like to keep their golden boy who, however, is the object of desire, with the €25million clause that is tempting (Naples, Lazio, Inter, West Ham and Everton have taken information),” according to La Citta di Salerno.

Everton need attacking reinforcements if they are to avoid a third successive Premier League relegation battle, with the Toffees only just staying in the division in the last two seasons.

Current star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is far too injury prone to be the main man leading the line for the Toffees, meaning they could turn to the on-loan Salernitana man this summer in order to improve their options in the final third.

The futures of other Everton strikers Ellis Simms and Neal Maupay remain up in the air, and manager Sean Dyche needs a hit man he can rely on for many years to come.

At 26, Dia has the potential to be that man, with the striker scoring 16 goals from his 33 Serie A appearances last time out, as well as chipping in with six assists.

Unfortunately for the Toffees, however, such figures have seemingly attracted interested elsewhere, namely from West Ham, another club in need of better attacking options.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are in hot pursuit of one 35-cap international as his £17million price tag is revealed.
