Nottingham Forest won’t budge on Lewis O’Brien valuation amid Leeds interest

Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien is wanted by Leeds United before the transfer window closes next week. However, Forest won’t budge on their £10 million valuation of the player they signed last summer.

According to Alan Nixon from The Sun, Leeds are now prepared to make their move. The Whites won for the first time in the Championship yesterday and they’re keen to add more players before Friday’s deadline.

Sheffield United were said to be keen on O’Brien. However, Forest won’t do business with them as they see them as a team with a similar status to them in terms of this season’s Premier League.

The deal is now proving a complex one for Leeds. Forest aren’t willing to budge on their £10 million valuation and if they don’t receive that, he’s likely to stay at the City Ground.

Forest landed the 24-year-old from Huddersfield shortly after winning the play-offs. He made 14 appearances during the first half of the 2022/23 campaign but was bizarrely omitted from the squad after the January transfer window.

Forest won’t budge on O’Brien fee

Carlos Corberan praised Forest man O’Brien before he joined the club. He called him ‘very special’ as he proved an inspirational figure during Huddersfield’s push to the Championship Play-Off Final. Leeds want O’Brien from Forest

The Whites will have some cash to play with this summer. They’ve now been taken over by new owners and have seen several top players depart the club already. Farke will be desperate to see the transfer window close. Every day it seems as though another club is keen on signing one of his players.

Now, it would appear that he wants to sign O’Brien. Forest are in the market for a midfielder themselves and perhaps they will wait until they get something sorted before letting him leave.

It’s a shame that O’Brien hasn’t been able to get another chance at Forest. Ultimately the club are targeting a better quality of player in that area and perhaps the time is right to get their money back on the midfielder.
