Everton ready move to sign Danny Ings as West Ham United transfer stance emerges

Everton are ready to make a move for West Ham striker Danny Ings after Southampton rejected a bid for Che Adams, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Sunday (27 August, page 77) that Sean Dyche “would jump at a reunion” with the 31-year-old, who he previously worked with at Burnley.

It is understood that West Ham would consider letting Ings leave if they manage to sign a new striker before the transfer window closes at 11pm on 1 September.

Ings hasn’t exactly set the Premier League alight in the last couple of seasons.

Last term, the former England international scored three goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for West Ham after joining them in January from Aston Villa.

According to reliable Hammers news website 6Foot2, Ings signed a £125,000-a-week contract when he moved to the London Stadium midway through the campaign.

Both of his Premier League goals with West Ham came in a 4-0 hammering of Nottingham Forest while he only managed to score once in the Europa Conference League knock-outs and wasn’t even subbed onto the pitch by David Moyes in the final.

Dyche has worked with Ings before, yes. But that was a long time ago.

He’s not long turned 31, he’s had serious injury issues, he’s struggling to score goals and he could cost a lot of money due to those wages so it’s best that Dyche and Kevin Thelwell instead try to push more with Adams at Southampton.
