EVERTON NOW CONSIDERING LATE MOVE TO SIGN EX-LIVERPOOL STRIKER
Everton are eyeing up a move to sign West Ham United striker Danny Ings ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Danny Ings could reunite with Sean Dyche at Everton with the West Ham United striker wanted at Goodison Park.
That is according to The Sunday Mirror (27/08, p77), who claim that Everton are ‘weighing up’ a late move for Ings.
Everton had been hoping to sign Southampton striker Che Adams but a £12million offer has been rejected.
That means Everton are looking at other options even with Udinese striker Beto seemingly on his way to Goodison Park.
Ings is one option for Everton with Sean Dyche chasing a reunion with the West Ham United ace.
Ings played 113 times under Dyche at Burnley – more games than under any other manager in his career.
The 31-year-old racked up 40 goals and 13 assists for the Clarets and may well fancy reuniting with Dyche.
Ings has only played 17 minutes for West Ham this season but the Hammers would still want a replacement in order to let him go.
That leaves Everton hoping for a domino effect to help them, which isn’t the best situation heading into the final days of the window.
Danny Ings could return to Merseyside with Everton
A move to Everton would see Ings make an unexpected return to Merseyside.
Ings playing so well under Dyche at Burnley attracted interest from Liverpool, and he made the move to Anfield in 2015.
Ings sadly never really had the impact he wanted as injuries proved to be a major problem, suffering two major knee injuries with the Reds.
By the time Ings joined Southampton in 2018, he had managed just 14 Premier League games and three goals for Liverpool.
The Reds cashed in, sending him on loan to Southampton with the deal becoming permanent for around £20million.
Fast forward five years and Everton could end up bringing Ings back to Merseyside, where he would hope to exorcise some demons from an injury-ravaged spell at Liverpool.
