Nottingham Forest defender now very close to new contract

Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall is very close to agreeing on a new deal with the club The Reds captain has been linked with a new deal for some time and the conversations are now drawing to a conclusion.

The skipper will be out of contract in the summer of 2024 and the Reds don’t want to lose him for free. Now, he’s set to win a new deal with the club to extend his stay for another three years, according to The Sun.

Worrall endured a pretty frustrating time of things during his maiden campaign playing in the Premier League. He was sat on the bench by Steve Cooper on three separate periods of the season but did finish strongly.

It was during the final six or seven games that Worrall started to showcase his class. He started to prove to his critics that he was good enough to play in the top flight and he will benefit from those experiences.

Worrall is Forest through and through. He has risen through the youth academy at the City Ground and his defining moment came when he led the team to promotion to the Premier League.

Now, talks over a new deal do look set to get underway. The club are keen to act quickly and hopefully, Worrall can be tied to an extension on his deal before the 2023/24 campaign gets underway.

The 26-year-old was outstanding against Arsenal yesterday. He will hope to keep his place in the team this season and prove his worth in the top division.

Forest defender Worrall close to signing new contract

The defender has been an exceptional servant to Forest. Despite his tender years, he’s made 218 appearances for the Reds and always gives his all when he’s called upon.

Forest are wise to keep Worrall at the City Ground. He is still learning when it comes to the Premier League and the 2023/24 campaign looks like being a very big one for the captain.

The injuries to Moussa Niakhate and Felipe mean that Worrall has begun the campaign in the side. Forest therefore want to make sure that their academy graduate remains at the club for the long term.

This makes a lot of sense. It wouldn’t make sense to let Worrall walk away for free in a matter of months and hopefully, a deal can be struck between the two parties very soon.
