It’s great news for Luton Town Football Club

The allure that surrounds the Premier League was perfectly demonstrated yesterday when news broke relating to Carlton Morris.

Our top scorer, from last season, as reported by the BBC, put pen-toc-paper on a contract extension that means he will remain a Hatter for the foreseeable future.

As well as being reported by our quoted source, the news was also widely broadcast on the major satellite sports channels.

Now, I doubt that would have happened if we were still languishing in the Championship.

The fact that 27-year-old Morris, who notched 20 goals last season, has agreed to stay at Kenilworth Road, speaks volumes for the manner in which the club is going about its business and, quite rightly, Rob Edwards, as reported by our source, is chuffed to bits Carlton sees his future lying with the club, with the gaffer quoted as having remarked:

“We’re so pleased to get someone as important to us as Carlton signed on for even longer – he’s a brilliant person to have in our squad.

“His goals were influential last season, but whenever I spoke about him or was asked about him, it was his all-round game and what he brought to the team, whether it was hold-up play, work-rate, headers, defensive headers in his own box from corners.

“It was everything that he gave the team, as well as the goal threat. He’s got great experience now, but he’s a good age, someone who is really hungry, and he deserves the opportunity now to have a go in the Premier League.”

There’s no doubting that the Hatters face a huge challenge competing in the top-flight of English football and Carlton will do exceedingly well if he matches that 20 goal tally.

Chances are not quite as easy to come by in the top-flight and the defenders he will come up against will be of a far better quality, but, saying that, there’s no reason to suggest Carlton can’t, playing against the best, improve his own game even further, is there?
