The legendary Nolan Richardson of Arkansas is mistakenly declared dead by Stephen A. Smith.
Stephen A. Smith has extensive NBA knowledge. However, it’s possible that the ESPN personality—who may also become president in the future—is too preoccupied with his conflict with LeBron James to give college basketball much thought.
After Arkansas’s dismal double-digit blown lead against Texas Tech in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night, Smith made an embarrassing error during an interview with former collegiate coach Seth Greenberg on ESPN’s First Take on Friday morning.
He asserts the death of great Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson, the creator of the well-known “40 Minutes of Hell” technique, as shown in the video below:
He will be able to hire more people than anyone else there, with the exception of the late, great Nolan Richardson, who was Mr. 40 Minutes of Hell. Smith said solemnly, “May God rest his soul.”
Smith firmly stated at the beginning of the next segment that he is aware Richardson is still very much alive:
You don’t typically say phrases like “God rest his soul” or “late, great” when you know someone is still alive.
However, who are we to argue that Stephen A. Smith, the future president, is incorrect? In our opinion, the late, great First Take host is impervious to wrongdoing. May his soul rest in peace.
