Everton transfer news as towering striker Keisuke Goto wanted

Everton are interested in signing towering Japanese prospect Keisuke Goto and the teenager could arrive in the UK through an exceptional rule, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old centre forward, a product of the Japanese Júbilo Iwata youth academy, is 6ft 3ins tall and was due to represent his country at the World U20 Championships, but for an unfortunate injury.

Goto has scored five goals so far this season in 17 appearances and is attracting keen interest from a number of clubs across the continent, including West Ham, Everton and Europa League champions Sevilla, according to the Daily Mail [29 June].

Goto is said to be one of the hottest young properties in Japan because of his towering presence, deceptive speed, strength, aggression and his ability to find the net on a consistent basis.

It’s certainly encouraging to see Everton explore a whole new market for some youthful transfer opportunities and Goto represents an attractive and refreshing opportunity for the Toffees to explore this summer.

He may not come in at Goodison Park and make an immediate impact but Everton could do well to snap him up and invest his development and future, loaning him out to a progressive and suitable league and environment to enhance his learning for a couple of years, before bringing him back to ply his trade on Merseyside.

It’s what plenty of their rivals in England are already doing, just look at Brighton’s model.

It’s been a long while since Everton have acquired a talented gem under the noses of their Premier League counterparts in the market, and there’s no reason why they can’t take up the opportunity to snap up Goto and take advantage of the new GBE rule.

In Everton news, Alan Myers has shared a major update on Sean Dyche’s future after a development over his sacking has emerged over the past few days.
