The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has been under fire following a pair of controversial calls.
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to play in the AFC Championship, it appears that everyone wants them to lose. Of course, supporters of any sport become tired of seeing the same team triumph again and over. It happened to the New England Patriots. It occurred to the Golden State Warriors. It is currently happening with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fans are looking for any way to cheer against the Chiefs. And they’ve acquired the right viewpoint, with Patrick Mahomes receiving an unusually high number of questionable penalties against defenders. There were a few against the Houston Texans that enraged fans. No one expects Mahomes to admit that he is favored by NFL referees, but he addressed the issue this week.
Patrick Mahomes denies getting help from referees
Mahomes spoke to the media on Wednesday and was asked if he felt he gets extra protection from referees. The quarterback left it very clear that he doesn’t see it that way.
I don’t feel that way. I just try to play football at the end of the day. The referees are doing their best to call the game as fair and as proper as they can.
