BREAKING: Ohio State lands four-star RB Anthony Rogers on National Signing Day
COLUMBUS – Ohio State has landed four-star Montgomery (Ala) Carver running back Anthony Rogers on National Signing Day. The Buckeyes wanted a third running back this cycle and now they have one in the form of a former Alabama commitment.
Rogers committed to the Crimson Tide in June of 2023. Following his official visit to Ohio State, however, he backed off his commitment to the in-state school.
Ohio State hosted Rogers, the No. 166 overall prospect and the No. 11 running back in the On3 Industry Rankings, for an official visit the weekend of the Purdue game. After the visit, Rogers spoke highly of his time in Columbus to On3’s Chad Simmons.
“The visit was good,” Rogers said. “I enjoyed the environment and I like their offensive system. They let me know that they want me. They feel I have an opportunity to produce there with my skill set and that they could develop and help me get to the NFL.”
Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn has a close relationship with the Rogers and his family. Locklyn, a fellow Alabama native, was one of the first coach to offer Rogers in 2021 while he was the running backs coach at Western Kentucky.
Rogers rushed for 221 yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries in nine games as a senior at Carver. The 5-foot-8, 195-pound prospect also had 42 receptions for 478 yards and four touchdowns. He played his junior season at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy where he rushed for 316 yards and five touchdowns on 41 carries in nine games.
Ohio State now has 26 commitments in the 2025 class following Rogers’ commitment. He joins four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela-St. Joseph running back Bo Jackson and three-star Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep running back Isaiah West in the Buckeyes highly-ranked recruiting class. Ohio State has the No. 3 recruiting class in the On3 Team Recruiting Rankings.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are beefing up their 2025 recruiting class with some big-time talent in the backfield.
Per an announcement on his X (Twitter) account Tuesday, four-star running back Bo Jackson has committed to Ohio State after completing his official visit to Columbus over the weekend.
“Nothing is like the brotherhood at Ohio State!” Jackson said, per reports from On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
The Villa Angela-St. Joseph (Cleveland, Ohio) product had an elite final three of Ohio State, Georgia and Alabama. However, the Buckeyes won out.
He visited Georgia and newly-extended head coach Kirby Smart on May 17-19. He was set to head to Tuscaloosa to meet with first-year coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide this weekend, but it’s unclear if that visit will still take place based on Jackson’s “1000 percent” guarantee.
Jackson, who stands at 6-0, 205 pounds, had also received offers from Michigan, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, Penn State and many more, but he’s now found his new home in Columbus.
Per 247Sports’ rankings, Jackson is the No. 3 running back in the 2025 class and the No. 5 player overall in Ohio.
The Buckeyes had yet to land a commitment from a running back in the 2024
class, but Jackson is now the first. He joins an Ohio State recruiting class that already features three five-stars, per 247Sports’ rankings, as cornerbacks Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord and quarterback Tavien St. Clair currently stand as the headliners.
Ohio State will kickoff the 2024 season against Akron on Saturday, Aug. 31.
