Sha’Carri Richardson Takes Massive U-Turn After Diamond League Nightmare Against Julien Alfred
Sha’Carri Richardson’s miserable post-Paris journey is still going strong, as new information has disappointed her admirers. Richardson finished with her first Olympic silver medal in the 100 meters after failing to capitalise on the favourite tag in Paris. Although this could be written off as just another unlucky day at work, Richardson’s supporters anticipated a ferocious response from their track and field idol. She did also get off to a good start. At the Zurich Diamond League, Richardson triumphed over her Olympic rival, Julian Alfred.

In an attempt to demonstrate her superiority over the St. Lucian, Richardson was utterly unsuccessful in Brussels. And if that wasn’t already enough sorrow for her supporters, they would have even more cause for concern after seeing the final roster of competitors in the 200-meter event in Brussels. Sha’Carri Richardson, who was anticipated to compete in one of her stronger divisions, appears to have withdrawn from the competition. Her name might not be on the final call list for any other reason than this.

In her absence, Talou Smith, Anavia Battle, Daryll Neita, and Tamara Clark will be fancying their chances to go for the gold. Although Richardson’s opting out of the race is pretty much confirmed, it is utterly confusing as to what stimulated the decision. Meanwhile, running in the 100m final, the battle lines were drawn for another epic Richardson vs. Alfred showdown. Sadly, in the most anti-climactic manner, Richardson failed to even get a podium finish. As Alfred breezed to victory, clocking 10.88s, the slow start yet again came back to bite Richardson in the back. She looked uncharacteristically
