With six weeks to go before the 2024 WTA Finals qualifying deadline, the four Grand Slams are now officially in the books following the completion of the US Open. As of right now, only two players—Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka—have officially qualified for the WTA Finals, meaning that the remaining six singles slots are up for grabs.
The top seven players in the standings will advance to the Riyadh finals. A player would qualify if their ranking on the leaderboard is between positions 8 and 20. Barbora Krejcikova (Wimbledon) would be eligible as of right now because she is ranked No. 10.
After that, at Nos. 3 and No. 4, are Elena Rybakina and Jasmine Paolini. Three Americans, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Emma Navarro, complete the Top 7. At No. 5, Rybakina and Paolini lead Pegula by almost 400 points, despite their only 116-point difference. Pegula made the biggest ascent to No. 5 after beginning the summer hard-court swing at No. 20. She does this after winning the championship in Toronto and placing second in Cincinnati and the US Open.
During the summer hard-court swing, only Sabalenka (3,410 points) earned more points than Pegula (2,950), with Paula Badosa (1,385 points, jumping from No. 39 to No. 14) and Emma Navarro (1,375, jumping from No. 11 to No. 7) following.
Karoline Muchova moved up the most this week among the players in the Top 50, moving up 66 spots to No. 38. She placed just outside the Top 100 prior to New York, and she was a semifinalist at the US Open. Other noteworthy athletes that improved their score after the US Open by at least ten points. Only two other players in the Top 50, Beatriz Haddad Maia (+7 to No.24) and Badosa (+6 to No.14), advanced five spots or more since the start of the US Open.
