During Thursday’s Diamond League meet, sprinting star Sha’Carri Richardson regained some of the bragging rights over Julien Alfred. At the wet competition in Zurich, Switzerland, the Team USA athlete triumphed over her opponent in the 100 meters.

Alfred defeated Richardson to win the silver medal at the Olympics in Paris last month. Richardson had a difficult time getting off to a slow start on the wet track at Letzigrund Stadium. But in 10.84 seconds, she outran the St. Lucian sprinter thanks to an excellent gear shift. Alfred finished second in 10.88, the exact opposite of the outcome in the French capital that had Richardson in tears.

Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain finished third on the podium with a strong run of 10.89. For Richardson, the current world champion in the 100 meters, it was a moment of atonement. According to NBC, Richardson remarked, “This is probably the funnest race I’ve had all season.” “I took that time after the Games to come back, regroup and be able to show you guys the Sha’Carri Richardson y’all know.”
