Kansas City Chiefs eye blockbuster trade for two-time Pro Bowler to help secure another Super Bowl

After back-to-back wins the Chiefs are looking to solidify their position as the NFL’s most dominant force

he Kansas City Chiefs, fresh off their back-to-back Super Bowl victories, are reportedly exploring a blockbuster trade that could solidify their position as the NFL’s most dominant force.

A proposed deal with the Cleveland Browns could bring two-time Pro Bowler Jack Conklin to Kansas City, bolstering an already potent offense and making the Chiefs a near-lock for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat.

While the Chiefs’ offense didn’t quite match its usual explosive standards in 2023, Patrick Mahomes and company saved their best for when it mattered most. They outlasted the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58, securing their second consecutive title.

However, Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach isn’t content with maintaining the status quo. This offseason saw the Chiefs add wide receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown and use a first-round pick on Texas Longhorns speedster Xavier Worthy to further enhance Mahomes’ arsenal.

Strengthening the offensive line

Despite these additions, one glaring issue remains – the tackle position. Donovan Smith’s departure and Jawaan Taylor’s inconsistent play have left Kansas City vulnerable on the offensive line. This is where the trade proposal comes into play.

According to Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine, the Chiefs could address this weakness by acquiring Jack Conklin from the Cleveland Browns. In exchange, Kansas City would send third and fifth-round draft picks in 2025 to Cleveland.

Thank you for watching

Conklin, a two-time Pro Bowl right tackle, signed a four-year, $60 million extension with the Browns in late 2022. However, an injury last season opened the door for rookie Dawand Jones, who impressed in Conklin’s absence.

With Jones’ emergence, the Browns might be willing to part with Conklin, making him available for the right price.

Making the Chiefs offense unstoppable

Acquiring Conklin would be a game-changer for the Chiefs. Kansas City already boasts the league’s best player in Patrick Mahomes, the top tight end in Travis Kelce, and an elite center in Creed Humphrey.

Adding Conklin to an offensive line that also features top-tier guards Joe Thuney and Trey Smith would give Mahomes the protection he needs to wreak havoc on opposing defenses.
