The Dallas Cowboys want to give their devoted supporters a unique present to commemorate their 65th NFL season. Expectations in Dallas heading into 2024 are higher than ever, especially since the Cowboys will be fielding almost their whole NFC East winning squad. The Cowboys’ last Super Bowl victory occurred almost thirty years ago, in an entirely different era for the NFL.

Despite this, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has disappointed fans this summer by taking his time offering new deals to offensive talents Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, who will both be eligible for free agency following the season. While Lamb continues to abstain from all team activities until his contractual situation is resolved, Jones is concentrating on making small but meaningful roster changes in the lead-up to the September 8 start of the season.

The Cowboys and their two biggest opponents, the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles, have come to an understanding over Linval Joseph, a seasoned nose tackle with a lengthy career. In order to pursue a second Super Bowl ring with the Cowboys, Joseph, a two-time Pro Bowl pick, has agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $4 million. Joseph’s reunion with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who mentored him during his two Pro Bowl seasons with the Minnesota Vikings in 2016 and 2017, is another benefit of the free-agent signing.

Joseph is still a threat to offensive linemen at the age of 35. At 6’4″ and 329 pounds, the 14-year veteran may have a significant effect if he stays healthy. Dallas’ defence finished 16th out of 32 teams in 2023 in terms of rushing yards allowed and 15th in terms of rushing yards per attempt, therefore they will need to improve in 2024. In the event that one of the Cowboys’ best offensive players is unavailable, strengthening the defensive line by having the seasoned Joseph as a backup option would help the team maintain its winning streak.
