John Force Racing has officially announced that former Funny Car world champion Jack Beckman will replace John Force for the remainder of the 2024 NHRA season. Force, who sustained a traumatic brain injury in a June crash, is sidelined as he recovers. Beckman, a seasoned veteran and 2012 Funny Car champion, will take over driving Force’s Peak Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS starting with the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in mid-August.
This decision was made with the goal of keeping the championship hopes alive, as NHRA rules allow a replacement driver to earn points on behalf of the injured driver in up to eight events. Beckman, who has a long history with the Force family and a successful career in drag racing, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, noting that no one could truly “replace” John Force.
