I guarantee you, that was part of the deal”: Sammy Hagar thinks Alex Van Halen won’t talk to him because of his upcoming book

The Van Halen drummer’s memoir Brothers, which pays tribute to late brother Eddie, is out in October.

Sammy Hagar thinks that because Alex Van Halen is releasing a memoir later this year, he won’t talk to him. Hagar is presently performing Van Halen hits from the David Lee Roth and Hagar eras with former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham, and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani as part of the Best Of All Worlds tour.

Despite Hagar’s best efforts to enlist Alex Van Halen, he is conspicuously missing from the journey. However, he has already expressed that he doesn’t blame Alex for feeling that way because he believes Alex “just doesn’t like playing without his brother.”

Before this tour was announced, I sent Alex a dozen messages, but I never heard back,” Hagar says the Las Vegas Review Journal. “I mean, I’ve asked him to meet me at any time, any place, and under any circumstances. It isn’t as simple as “Let me think about it.” Like, there’s no response. None at all.

He said he would even offer him the chance “to just play a couple of songs, or if you want to be the drummer the whole night, or be the executive producer. What to you want to do?”
