Maple Leafs extend qualifying offers to four players

Maple Leafs loan forward Alex Steeves to AHL Marlies

The Toronto Maple Leafs have extended qualifying offers to four of their pending restricted free agents, the club announced Sunday.

Forwards Nicholas Robertson, Connor Dewar and Alex Steeves and defenceman Timothy Liljegren all received qualifying offers. The only RFA to not receive one was centre Noah Gregor.

Liljegren, 25, finalized a two-year, $6 million contract to re-join the team and avoid free agency or arbitration. He had three goals and 20 assists in 55 games last season.

Robertson, 22, was drafted by the team in 2019 and has bounced between the NHL and AHL squads for the past four seasons. He was a more regular player last season and averaged career-highs in goals (14), assists (13) and games played (56).

Dewar, 25, was acquired by the Leafs at the NHL’s trade deadline from the Minnesota Wild. After joining the team, he had one goal and four assists in 17 games.

Steeves, 24, was a key member of the Marlies last season, tallying 27 goals and 30 assists in 65 games. He has only appeared in the NHL seven times over the course of his three-year career.

Gregor, 25, joined the team as a free agent last summer after spending the first four years of his career with the San Jose Sharks. He had six goals and six assists in 63 games last season.
