Two Giants Players Announce They’re Leaving Team This Offseason

The Giants will try to bolster their special teams unit after the departures of two core special teamers.

The New York Giants’ 2023 season officially ended on Sunday, which means the  for coaches and players.

The Giants will try to upgrade their roster at multiple spots after only winning six games this season, which was a notable decrease from 2022 (9-7) when they went to the playoffs.

As we prepare to head into a pivotal offseason for the Giants, we already know two players who won’t be with the squad next season.

Giants News: Cam Brown, Carter Coughlin Not Returning In 2024

Giants linebackers Cam Brown and Carter Coughlin made posts on social media on Monday saying goodbye to the fan base.

Brown and Coughlin were core special teamers and now are preparing to exit after the Giants fired special teams coordinator Thomas McGauhey.  McGaughey spent six seasons with the organizations, making multiple stints with Big Blue.

This season, the Giants’ special teams was wildly disappointing as they were ranked 19th in punt return average (8.9 yards per game), 30th in kick return average (19.2 yards per game), and a dismal 31st in field goal percentage (71%, 21-of-33 made field goals).

Brown spent four years in the Big Apple after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by New York. This season, the former Penn State linebacker only had eight combined tackles and a forced fumble in 16 games.

The 26-year-old Coughlin also spent four seasons with the Giants after being drafted by them in the seventh round of the 2020 draft. The 6-foot-3 linebacker recorded nine combined tackles in 17 games this season.

Brown and Coughlin will look to latch on elsewhere this offseason as the Giants will try to find a new special teams coordinator and fill the voids left by the two veteran linebackers.
