Lakers Make Big Bronny James Announcement Before Final NBA Summer League Game

Following a difficult start to his inaugural NBA Summer League, rookie Bronny James of the Los Angeles Lakers put up his best game as a professional on Thursday, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers. James had a strong all-around performance, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks on 5 of 10 shooting.

While fans were looking forward to seeing James build on this performance, they will not get the chance this summer. It was announced by the Lakers on Saturday that James, Dalton Knecht and Maxwell Lewis will not play in the team’s final NBA Summer League game against the Chicago Bulls.

As Lakers reporter Mike Trudell shared, this is a medical decision by the team. Wanting to ensure their young players are healthy, the Lakers are resting James, Knecht and Lewis in this final NBA Summer League game.

Understandably, Lakers fans are not happy with this announcement. Several made it known they will not be watching:

The fan base’s disappointment is understandable. James is coming off his best performance of the summer. Showing real signs of potential in LA’s win over Cleveland, James looked comfortable for the first time, particularly with his shot.

James’ next action will likely come in the NBA preseason, where he could have an opportunity to play alongside his father LeBron James for the first time. This will be a special moment fans have been looking forward to since James was selected 55th in the 2024 NBA Draft.
