Key contract detail revealed as Sheffield Wednesday make signing number six
Sheffield Wednesday have announced another new signing, with Olaf Kobacki becoming their sixth of the summer.
The Star reported earlier in the week that the 22-year-old Polish youth international was on the verge of becoming the Owls’ latest signing, and now his arrival has been confirmed.
A statement from the club read, in part, “Wednesday are pleased to announce the signing of Olaf Kobacki for an undisclosed fee from Polish side Arka Gdynia. The 22-year-old started his career with Lech Poznan’s academy before moving to Serie A side Atalanta in 2017.
He now joins Danny Röhl’s side as the club’s sixth addition of the summer transfer window. Welcome to Hillsborough, Olaf!”
Meanwhile, the player’s agency has revealed that the attacker has penned a long-term four-year deal at S6 as he makes his first steps into English football, and his former club, Arka Gdynia, were quick to thank him for his efforts during his spell there.
Kobacki joins from Polish side after getting 23 goals and assists across all competitions in 2023/24, and Wednesdayites will be hoping to catch a first glimpse of him in action this weekend when they take on Alfreton Town in their first preseason friendly of the summer.
