Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Elliot Anderson who has joined the club from Newcastle United.
The fee of £35 million has caught the eye, although, with PSR on the back of the Magpies, it’s likely the sum has been structured.
Anderson is only 21-years-old and Shay Given has suggested that Forest might have got themselves a gem.
After checking in at the City Ground, the midfielder has taken to Instagram to speak of his pride at joining Forest.
Now, he’s received some kind words from two Forest stars who are seemingly excited to play with the Newcastle academy graduate.
Two Nottingham Forest star players react to Elliot Anderson signing
It will be fascinating to see how Forest midfielder Anderson performs and hopefully, he can hit the ground running.
Given the hefty transfer fee, some fans might hold some reservations but as a young player, he does have a nice profile.
Following his Instagram post upon arriving at Forest, he’s received messages from Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.
Elanga was linked with potentially heading to Newcastle as part of the Anderson deal – but he seems to have put any notion of an exit to bed.
He posted: “Welcome brother! Let’s get serious.”
Gibbs-White was next up and he kept things short and sweet, posting: “Welcome.”
Finally, Hudson-Odoi was also quick to welcome him to the club with a two-word message that said: “Welcome bro.”
Anderson will be a nice fit to the Forest dressing room
At 21, there is a lot to like about Anderson arriving at Forest.
He fits the profile in terms of Forest trying to attract young players and he should be a nice fit among a number of other young players at the City Ground.
It’s good that some of the club’s top players have welcomed him to the ranks.
Lots of reports have done the rounds this summer already suggesting that Forest might have to sell their top players.
However, it would appear that the Reds can now stand firm and demand big valuations for their top stars with PSR nipped in the bud for another year.
Anderson feels like he will have plenty of help in settling quickly at Forest and hopefully, he can fulfil his potential in the East Midlands.
