See video for Mark Knopfler’s charity single, with appearances from 60 guest stars
The official video for Mark Knopfler’s charity single, “Going Home (Theme from Local Hero),” featuring a lineup of 60 rock musicians, can be viewed below. Each contributor is pointed out in the video when their musical part comes up in the song. “Going Home” helps support the work of Teen Cancer America (TCA) together with the U.K.-based Teenage Cancer Trust.
The new single features members of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, The Who, Pink Floyd, Queen, Black Sabbath, The Shadows, Rush, Guns N’ Roses and more. Plus, the nine-minute piece opens with a guitar intro from the late Jeff Beck, in what would be his final recorded work.
Other music artists include Bruce Springsteen, Ry Cooder, Sheryl Crow, Sam Fender, Peter Frampton, Vince Gill, Buddy Guy, Tom Morello, Brad Paisley, Nile Rodgers, Mike Rutherford, Andy Taylor, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Keith Urban, Joe Walsh and others.
Roger Daltrey, Teenage Cancer Trust’s Honorary Patron and co-founder of Teen Cancer America (with Pete Townshend), added harmonica, and Beatles icon Ringo Starr plays drums alongside his son Zak Starkey. Their two drum tracks switch from one to the other, revealing an unmistakable family style. Sting completes an extraordinary rhythm section on bass.
