It looks like Blackburn midfielder Rory Finneran could be the latest youth prospect to arrive on Tyneside

We revealed last month that Newcastle United were closing in on a deal to sign the teenage talent and that’s now been backed up by Academy experts the Secret Scout.

They report that Newcastle have held talks with Blackburn ‘this week’ in a bid to agree on a fee for the 16-year-old, who became Rovers’ youngest-ever player at senior level after featuring in the FA Cup last season.

It’s believed Newcastle face rival interest from unnamed German clubs, but are hopeful of sealing a deal for the Irish sensation who has impressed youth scouts while representing his club and country.

Despite turning 16 just a few months ago, Finneran played seven times for Blackburn’s U21s in the Premier League 2 last season and has represented the Republic of Ireland at U15, U16 and U17 level.
