£60m update shared as West Ham United keen on Fulham ace Joao Palhinha transfer

West Ham are keen on signing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha and a £60million update has been shared by Six Foot Two in the battle to secure his services.

The reliable London Stadium insiders claim [18 July] that it will take Fulham that amount to even consider selling the Portugal international, 28, and that’s not something the Hammers are willing to pay for him.

An opening £40million bid has been made and rejected by the West London club and it remains to be seen if another offer is submitted by the Hammers.

The Hammers need to sign solid Premier League proven players and none come better in midfielder than the 28-year-old.

He is someone who can be a ball winner and help the Hammers recycle play and continue playing on the transition.

He’s also decent with the ball at his feet and could be the perfect deep-lying midfielder that they need to sign this summer.

Whether or not David Moyes urges the Hammers hierarchy to make another offer remains to be seen, but he should as it’s imperative to bring in quality.

Declan Rice’s exit already makes the first team considerably weaker and money needs to be spent in order to rope in quality reinforcements.

If Palhinha is willing to leave, and there do not seem any indications to the contrary, West Ham must not give up the chase just yet.

He’s also highly admired by Jurgen Klopp who said, “Defending the centre against Fulham is really important, because Palhinha is there. That’s their connector, to get on the ball.”

In other West Ham news, a super-rich club has launched an enquiry into a star player who could follow Declan Rice out of the door as his agent may engineer a transfer.
