QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City are interested in Rotherham United defender Cameron Humphreys, according to a report by Football Insider.
The Championship trio are all keen on luring the centre-back back up to the second tier this summer following Rotherham United’s relegation to League One. The Millers finished bottom of the table in this past campaign and went down along with Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City.
Humphreys, 25, is still under contract with his current club until June 2025 but his future is up in the air ahead of the upcoming transfer window. He made 27 appearances in all competitions last season, 25 of which came in the league.
In this latest update regarding his situation by Football Insider, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City have all been mentioned as potential suitors as they look to bolster their ranks over the next couple of months. Millwall have also been linked.
Rotherham United ace eyed
Humphreys started his career at Manchester City and rose up through the academy ranks of the Premier League champions. He went on to make two first-team appearances during his time at the Etihad Stadium before leaving in 2019.
He went abroad and had a two-year stint at Zulte Waregem in Belgium, part of which he spent out on loan at Excelsior in Holland, before moving back to England with Rotherham United in 2022.
The Mancunian has since become a key player for the Millers but they could face a battle to keep hold of him in the near future amid attention from elsewhere.
Steve Evans’ side will be eyeing an immediate promotion next term and have been busy on the recruitment front over recent times, bringing in the likes of Jonson Clarke-Harris, Joe Rafferty and Sean Raggett.
Sheffield Wednesday, QPR and Swansea City eye move
Sheffield Wednesday and QPR both managed to stay up last season and are carrying momentum into the summer. Danny Rohl and Marti Cifuentes respectively will both be looking to add more quality to their squads.
As for Swansea City, Luke Williams is gearing up for his first full campaign at the helm and the former Notts County man could see Humphreys as someone to strengthen his defence.
