PENSACOLA, Fla. — A single-engine plane crashed Thursday afternoon in front of Blue Angels Elementary in Pensacola, leaving three people injured.

The school is located at 1551 Dog Track Road. The plane burst into flames after crashing around 2:30 p.m. CT.

Escambia County says three people were flown by helicopter to local hospitals with injuries. Witnesses on scene tell Channel 3 the injuries appear to be non life-threatening.

“There were no injuries involved at the school and no damage to buildings,” the county says in a release.

Escambia County Superintendent Dr. Tim Smith confirms to Channel 3 that the three injured in the crash are a Blue Angels Elementary teacher, their spouse and young child.

“We will continue in prayer for this family,” Dr. Smith says in a statement. “They are our Escambia County family.”

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
