Newcastle United fans don’t really know what to expect from their club this summer but there’s a hope new signings will be made.
On one hand, there is a belief that Newcastle need to sell in order to fall in line with PSR and FFP regulations.
But on the other hand, Eddie Howe wants to strengthen his squad and that means there could be a bit of a balancing act on the cards for the Mags.
Of course, Howe would love to bring in players of proven quality if he can.
And according to reports, Howe has been discussing targets with the Newcastle board, including a current England international.
Newcastle have discussed Jarrod Bowen as one of their transfer targets
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are keen on signing a new winger and have drawn up a list of potential targets for the summer.
Among those targets is West Ham and England star, Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen has been selected to go to the Euros after another fine season for the Hammers and it looks like a cluster of clubs are keen on signing him.
Newcastle are among them, with the report here suggesting Eddie Howe has discussed Bowen, along with Nico Williams and Michael Olise as potential targets.
It comes as the same report claims Newcastle could offload young winger, Yankuba Minteh, for around £40m.
Liverpool are believed to be among the teams keen on signing Minteh.
We’ve all seen how well Jarrod Bowen has done with West Ham and he is a firm fan favourite as well, something he seems to get energy off.
A move to Newcastle, then, with a high energy crowd and fans who buy into players with all-action styles of play like Bowen, could be a recipe for success.
At just £22m, Bowen – who Roy Keane labelled as an ‘excellent‘ purchase – has been one of the biggest bargain signings in recent Premier League times and he’s more than earned his next big switch.
However, with Newcastle not having European football, Bowen might consider if it’s actually a step up or not at the minute.
