Fabrizio Romano names the ‘favourites’ to sign Tosin Adarabioyo out of Newcastle and Chelsea
Newcastle and Chelsea are going head to head in the race to sign Tosin Adarabioyo.
Chelsea and Eddie Howe’s side are both very keen on the Fulham defender, with both clubs said to be in talks to sign him this summer.
The Blues and The Magpies are two of the biggest financial forces in English football, and this battle will be an intriguing one it must be said.
So, who will Tosin sign for this summer? According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on The Debrief, this situation is very open at the moment, but Newcastle are said to be favourites to sign the centre-back this summer.
Newcastle favourites to sign Tosin
Romano shared what he knows about the Fulham defender.
“First of all it’s an open situation. I still see Newcastle as favourites because Newcastle started to work on this deal in March. For Tosin there is still discussions ongoing but I see Newcastle as favourites.
“Interest from Chelsea has been there since the final week of March, Chelsea are well informed on Tosin.
“I’m not aware of anything advanced with Chelsea. I’m not sure anything is decided with Chelsea, I think the situation is still quite open with Newcastle pushing to make it happen.”
Tosin may be better joining Chelsea
Newcastle are said to be favourites to sign Tosin, but a move to Chelsea may make more sense for the defender.
The centre-back already lives in west London having spent the past few years playing for Fulham, while he will suit Enzo Maresca’s style of play very well after being schooled by Pep Guardiola during his youth days at Manchester City.
Newcastle’s project may be more exciting than Chelsea’s, but from a personal point of view, it may make sense for Tosin to head to Stamford Bridge instead of St James’ Park.
