Newcastle United ready to seal £26m first summer transfer as Man Utd chase wonderkid
All of the latest Premier League transfer news, including Liverpool, Man Utd, and Newcastle.
We begin Tuesday’s Premier League transfer rumour round-up with news of Liverpool and their apparent interest in Atalanta midfielder Éderson. The Reds have been long time admirers of the Brazilian’s teammate Teum Koopmeiners, but it is reported by Tuttosport that while scouting the 26-year-old, representatives from Merseyside have been ‘impressed and bewitched’ by his accomplice in the engine room.
Éderson predominantly operates in a defensive role, and has played 52 times across all competitions this season, helping his side to lift the Europa League trophy last week. Indeed, Liverpool have been so convinced by what they have seen of the South American that they are now said to be ‘planning an attack’ to sign him during the summer transfer window.
The 3AM Verdict: Liverpool’s interest in Éderson feels more than a little serendipitous. Koopmeiners is a fine player, but his Brazilian teammate is no slouch either, and if Liverpool have happened to stumble across him in the process of scouting their initial target then so be it. It doesn’t matter how they find these talents, just that they do.
Elsewhere, Manchester City and Manchester United are both said to be in the picture to sign FC Copenhagen starlet Amin Chiakha, according to Tipsbladet. The two local rivals are understood to be monitoring the 18-year-old, who has excelled for Copenhagen’s U19s this season, registering 24 goals and registering three assists, including eight goals and two assists from nine UEFA Youth League matches.
For their part, Copenhagen ‘will do their best’ to retain his services this summer, with Chiakha considered one of the ‘great talents’ of Danish football. Ajax and Juventus are also said to be monitoring his situation.
The 3AM Verdict: Chiakha is obviously a hugely promising talent, and if either United or City were to sign him they would be securing a hugely exciting player for many years to come. Copenhagen will evidently put up a fight to keep him, but with enough financial might, they should be persuaded into a sale if either Premier League club is truly serious about completing a deal.
Newcastle keen on Huijsen
And finally, Newcastle United have Juventus defender Dean Huijsen on their radar ahead of the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old spent the season on loan at AS Roma, and has caught the attention of several European sides with his impressive form in the Italian capital. Alongside Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested.
That being said, the Magpies could hold an advantage in the race to sign the teenager because it is stated that they would have no issue with meeting Juve’s £25.5 million asking price for the player.
The 3AM Verdict: Huijsen has impressed this season, and it is little wonder that he is attracting attention in the manner that he currently is. If Newcastle could win the race for his signature, it would represent a considerable coup for the Magpies, and they would be bringing in a player who could serve them well for years to come.
