Newcastle have made ‘incredible’ £60m player their ‘priority’ signing this summer
Newcastle United have now decided on their priority signing this summer to boost Eddie Howe’s hopes of returning to European football.
Manchester United’s FA Cup win was a blow for everyone at Newcastle, Eddie Howe and his team must have been confident of Manchester City getting the job done.
But United’s win means Newcastle won’t play in any European competition next season, something that won’t help their financial situation.
Newcastle’s need to raise funds has recently been explained by experts, and the revenue loss resulting from Saturday’s result will be less than ideal.
Fortunately, it still seems very unlikely that a player like Alexander Isak or Bruno Guimaraes will need to be sold, with Newcastle likely to target alternative sales to boost their profit.
That being said, Newcastle still have transfer plans of their own – it’s not all about who they won’t sell.
And to that end, a report by Mail Sport has just detailed who is currently the club’s ‘immediate priority’ in the transfer market.
Newcastle put Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise top of their summer wishlist
According to the report, which was predominantly detailing Everton’s interest in Newcastle loanee Yankuba Minteh, the Tyneside club consider Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise their priority move.
Olise, who has been previously been described as ‘incredible’ by Pep Guardioloa, has been enjoyed some fine form in south London since returning from injury, capturing interest from a host of Premier League clubs.
And according to this information, Newcastle are determined to win the race for the France youth international, who could cost £60m with add-ons considered.
Of course, if Newcastle were successful with those plans, they would have one of the most feared front lines in the country.
A front three of Anthony Gordon, Isak and Olise would be viable for a team aiming to win the league, let alone get back into Europe.
And should the signing be made, fans may imagine that Howe would be under some pressure to get the club back into the Champions League at least.
That will surely be a task he’d relish, especially if Newcastle could keep their own stars and add to them in the fashion mentioned above.
All that being said, Newcastle are also said to have joined the battle to sign a Brazilian striker this summer.
