Former Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland star confirms transfer exit

This summer, a former favorite of Wolves will be looking for a new team.
Danny Batth, the former defender for Wolves, appears to be planning to become a free agent this summer following his apparent farewell to Norwich City.

After the Canaries’ 4-0 loss to Leeds United in the Championship play-offs, the 33-year-old’s season is finished. After entering Carrow Road on a free transfer in September 2023, it appears that his time there is likewise drawing to a close.

He played in two play-off games against Leeds United but was not used as a replacement despite making 21 appearances across all competitions. After dismissing head coach David Wagner, Norwich City is currently in advanced talks to find a replacement, with Batth’s future appearing to be unknown to the Norfolk club.

After receiving an extension due to their postseason participation, Norwich is anticipated to make an announcement regarding their retained list soon. Nevertheless, it appears that Batth’s destiny has been predetermined when, in a social media post, he wrote: “Thank you, Norwich. I am grateful for all of your support this season; it has been an honor to play for the club.

Although Batth started his career at Wolves, he made his senior debut in 2009 while on loan at Colchester United. He made 212 appearances for the team, stayed after they were relegated to League One, and was selected to the PFA Team of the Year after always being there.

In 2018, Batth left the team to join Stoke City, where he played for three and a half years, making 107 appearances before leaving to join League One Sunderland. After playing 40 games to assist the Black Cats finish in the top six last season, the center-back helped the team cross the finish line as they were promoted through the play-offs.
