Everton are back in for Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus.

That’s according to 90min, who claim that the Toffees have retained interest after they tried to sign him last summer.

Fabrizio Romano had confirmed that Kudus would join Everton for only £15 million last August, however the move collapsed when Antony joined Manchester United.

The Ghanaian went onto have a brilliant season in the Eredivisie, scoring eleven goals and netting another four in the Champions League.

Kudus has since had a £40m price tag placed on his head, with Everton still keen on a deal for the forward.

However, it is thought that they face competition from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United this summer.

Kudus is clearly a big fan of Sean Dyche’s side, having expressed his desire to move to Goodison Park last season.

Speaking to The Guardian, he said: “I thought [Everton] was a good project for me and why not?

“It’s not like it’s my first season at Ajax, it’s my third. So, if I’m not seeing the progress I’m looking for then why not try something else?”

However, Kudus has now found himself a regular spot under Maurice Steijn and could be less convinced of a switch to Merseyside.

Looking back now, Everton’s failed transfer for Mohammed Kudus certainly makes him the one that got away.

The Ajax youngster would have been a huge bargain at only £15m last summer as he went onto become one of their shining lights of the following season, being named Ghana Football Awards’ Footballer of the Year.

While Kudus was keen to join the Toffees, it would be surprising to see him quite as eager now that there are some of Europe’s biggest clubs sniffing around.

Everton definitely have to ask the question, but it seems unlikely that they will be able to battle for his signature and may have to look for a cheaper alternative.
