Kansas basketball transfer portal target trims list to five with Jayhawks in the mix

A major issue for the 2023-24 Kansas basketball team was outside shooting. The Jayhawks shot 33.2% from beyond the arc, the lowest clip a Kansas team has registered since head coach Bill Self took the job 21 years ago. As a result, floor spacing was clumpy and the on-the-court product was far less than ideal.

While the additions of the transfer portal commit Zeke Mayo and potential Jayhawk Rylen Griffen should bolster KU’s percentage from 3-point range, there is one player who could solve this single-handedly. Former Dayton Flyers sharpshooter Koby Brea has cut his transfer portal list to five schools, with Kansas and other blue-blood schools in the running.

Brea was not only terrific from long-range last season. His 49.8% percentage from three ranked first in all of Division I hoops. Kansas is in the running to land, quite literally, the best shooter in college basketball. How about that?

Before joining the portal as a graduate transfer, the 6-foot-6 wing averaged a career-high 11.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in his senior year. In addition to Kansas, he is also thinking about Duke, North Carolina, UConn, and Kentucky, according the tweet mentioned above. Brea supposedly finished up a Zoom conference with the coaching team.

Even though Brea lacks offensive flair, he would be warmly received in Lawrence if he chose to come play. Under Coach Self, he would quickly establish himself as one of the greatest shooters to ever don a crimson and blue uniform thanks to his flawless jump shot.

A Kansas transfer portal class that has already landed Mayo, Riley Kugel, AJ Storr, and others would benefit greatly from adding Brea.
