Utah Security Cole Bishop Discusses the Oakland Raiders
Utah security At the NFL Scouting Combine, Cole Bishop discussed what it would mean to play for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Taking advantage of this momentum, they appointed Antonio Pierce as their permanent head coach. When Pierce took over in an interim capacity and turned around the Raider culture, he transformed the team and made it a permanent position.
To make their first postseason appearance since the 2021–2022 campaign, the Raiders aim to recruit a couple more players. They could look through the 2024 NFL Draft to try to find those elements.
The Raiders had meetings with a number of candidates to examine their athletic abilities up close during the testing phase and learn more about them off the field.
Although the defensive backfield in Las Vegas is talented, having guys who can fill numerous roles may be helpful when attempting different looks against other teams.
Utah defensive back Cole Bishop is one of those players. While he played a lot of safety for the Utes, he can also play Nickel cornerback and be utilized as a blitzer.
Bishop informed me that he had a casual meeting with the Raiders. He talked about what it meant to be a part of the Black and Silver.
It would be fantastic, he remarked. “There, they’re carrying out a lot of excellent work. Of course, [Pierce] is a fairly cool guy. It would be very nice since they have a solid history and do a lot of excellent stuff on defense.
Bishop believes that the Raiders’ defense would benefit greatly from his adaptable skill set.
Being able to play a variety of roles on the back end, in my opinion, is really important. Being able to move about a lot would be quite helpful. Free, powerful, and occasionally Nickel.
In this class, Bishop is not the only adaptable Utah safety. Sione Vaki, a former teammate, played running back and safety for the Utes and is a candidate for the draft. Bishop has nothing but praise for Vaki and his contributions to a defense.
