Derek Carr’s Devastation: Injury Left Raiders Star QB Wondering “Why?”

Christmas Eve was marred by the NFL horror story.

The minute the quarterback’s life fell apart, those who loved him stopped eating, stopped celebrating, and stopped opening gifts.

Derek Carr was twisted 360 degrees by a bag and shouted, “Blue 80, set, hut!” as he lay on the grass, his eyes widening in fear as he repeated, “It’s broke. It’s malfunctioning. It’s malfunctioning.

And no one could really understand that reality, not even the Raiders, their supporters, or anybody close to Carr.

A “Derek’s hurt” bombshell immediately lit up a group text message chain between his former Fresno State teammates. Neither former receiver Josh Harper nor former running back Robbie Rouse could believe what he was seeing.

The score was 33-14 with around 11 minutes left, according to Harper. “I was confused because I figured the game was out of hand,” he adds. “I got all the texts and said, ‘No way.'”

“No, he’s not,” Rouse shot back, flipping on his TV.

“I could just see the look in his eye,” he continues. “It was awful. How did he become entangled? It was disgusting.”

Rouse momentarily believed he was dreaming. Carr, this unbreakable force, was not wounded in the slightest.

Coach Carr’s former college? Tim DeRuyter was with his family at his Fresno home. Everything in the room died.

DeRuyter pauses and sighs, “To see it all come crashing down on that one play.” “His leg was visible beneath.”

Carr’s best buddy and high school teammate, Ryan Clanton, had witnessed Marcus Mariota, the quarterback for Oregon State University, break his fibula earlier that day. His heart fell. Four hours later, Carr was in excruciating pain and writhing. His heart fell once more.

“I knew people who were there,” stated Clanton, “and they said the whole stadium went quiet.”

It did, in fact.

in the playing field. within the bowl. And inside a suite, way up above.

Carr made sure that his two brothers, two parents, and all of the grandchildren witnessed this game from a VIP suite versus the Colts as a Christmas present. Together, they would rejoice in the win throughout the holidays. “Autumn Wind” would melt into “Jingle Bells,” and being the devoted Christian family they are, they would exchange presents and have supper together.
