James Mitchell, the tight end for the Lions, was fully involved in practice on Wednesday but is now ruled out of Detroit’s wild card game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. During the workout on Thursday, he hurt his hand.

It’s evident from his social media that Mitchell’s injury was not mild.

Mitchell’s partner shared a photo of him in his hospital bed on her Instagram story. Having had surgery, his left hand is tightly bandaged. Mitchell posted the narrative on his personal social media pages.

It appears that when the Lions make their roster changes announcement later on Saturday, Mitchell will be placed on injured reserve.
